Cold Laser Therapy

Cold laser has become a buzz term. Many people use the term very loosely but not all lasers are the same. A pointer laser is a laser, but has no medical benefit. The wave length of the laser is what is important because some wave lengths are beneficial and some are not. The wave length and the power behind it determine the depth of penetration into the body. The cold laser we use has the deepest penetrating power into the body – the MicroLight 830. This laser penetrates 2 inches into the body. The laser beam is a light that helps the mitochondria of the cells produce the energy needed to create new healthy cells more rapidly. This results in faster wound healing, bone production, reduces inflammation, increases the oxygen level to the body tissue at a deep level. We have seen great results for our patients after using this therapy. We have used it to treat carpal tunnel syndrome, headache, neck pain, back pain, disc bulging, disc herniation, neuropathy, wound healing, plantar fasciitis, fibromyalgia, and more. This therapy reduces pain, is extremely safe and comfortable. There are no side effects, unlike hot laser which burns tissue and is used for surgery. Call us today. (614) 890-3500

What is cold laser therapy?

Cold laser therapy is a painless, non-invasive, drug-free treatment which is used to treat a variety of pain syndromes, injuries, wounds, fractures, neurological conditions, and pathologies. Cold laser therapy can be used anytime a patient requests or needs a drugless procedure for the control of pain, when conventional therapies have been ineffective or when the acceleration of healing from injuries is desired.

How does cold laser light heal?

Cold lasers supply energy to the body in the form of photons of light. Light is transmitted through the skin’s layers at specific wavelengths. The light waves, however, in the near infrared ranges penetrate the deepest of all light waves in the visible spectrum – from 2 to 5 centimeters into the body. The cold laser light waves affect the mitochondria to generate ATP molecules and accelerate the body’s ability to heal faster than without the light. Inflammation is also reduced, while circulation is increased. It is a scientific fact that light transmitted in this way has positive effects throughout the whole body, supplying vital oxygen and energy to every cell and tissue.

What should I expect during treatment?

For most patients, cold laser therapy is quite passive. The most noticeable sensation is the touch of the probe head of the laser, as it comes into contact with the skin. There is absolutely no pain or discomfort.

What are the most common conditions treated with cold laser?

Arthritis, back pain, neck pain, herniated/bulging discs, knee pain, injuries, migraine headaches, neuropathy, shingles, muscle spasms, whiplash, sprains, strains, swelling, tendonitis, and trigger points are just some of the conditions treated with cold laser therapy. I have personally treated patients with shingles using ML830 Cold Laser with amazing success in a very short amount of time.
